MMMMM...Masarap!!

Thank you Janis and Noelle for the Ooey Gooey Bars! You really ought to think about re-naming this little culinary masterpiece to "Better than ___________ Cake" (you fill in the blank...because really, they are better than just about ANYTHING!)

So you too can enjoy this delicious dessert, here is the recipe:

Crust
1Yellow Cake Mix
1 egg
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted

Filling
18-oz cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup (1stick) butter, melted
1 cup while chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 F. Lightly grease a 13x9 baking pan. Combine crust ingredients and mix well. Pat in bottom of prepared pan and set aside. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth; add eggs and vanilla. Dump in confectioners' sugar and beat well. Reduce speed of mixer and slowly pour in butter. Add white chocolate chips and mix well. Pour filling onto crust mixture and spread evenly. Bake for 40 - 50 minutes. Remove and allow to cool completely. I enjoy the dessert cold so I suggest refrigerating it before serving.

As you can tell, this bar may not top the list of nutritionally sound desserts, but I would highly recommended it as a "must have" at least once, even for the health concious eater. It is a little square piece of heaven!

So darn cute!

It's just perfect.

Dad's headstone was finally laid so we took a little drive and went to visit. Adorned with a few flowers (the kind that can survive the AZ heat!) it looks just perfect!

I love the temple...

...and everything that it stands for. Recently, the lessons I have taught in Young Womens have focused on the importance of temples and preparing to enter the House of the Lord. How grateful I am that those lessons conincided with the dedication of the Gila Valley temple. I hope that each of my girls, like I, left that special experience today feeling inspired, encouraged, comforted and loved.

Kambyra's 1st sleep over

Thank you Auntie Hana for the first of what I am sure will be many sleep overs! I can't tell from the pictures you took who was more excited to have the sleep over - YOU or SPANKY?

The newest graduate

Congratulations Haleigh!

I can't believe that 4 years have come and gone so quickly. Wasn't it only last week I had the pleasure of seeing your bright smiling face everyday at 6am in the morning? Okay, if we're being honest, it wasn't always at 6am and you weren't always smiling, but it was always a pleasure! My guess is you won't miss those days much! Hooray for institute!

Out of the mouth of Babes

Broc (while pointing): "AAAAABYYYYY" in a very high pitched almost scream.
translation: "She may be cute, but I'm not sure I'm not sure about this whole thing."

Kamee to Whitney: "No, you don't call her pretty, her name is Kambrya. You only say she's pretty when she has a bow on."
Grandma: Are you going to help your mom pack your house today?
Kamee: I can't help pack. I have to watch Kambrya so YOU and MAILI can help my mom pack. (said with emphasis)
Wow! smart girl... why didn't I think of that excuse first!

Broc: "AAAAABYYYYY"
translation:" Isn't this cool? Everytime I take this bottle out...she screams!

Blessings

May 2, 2010

Dear Kambrya,
What a special day for you and your dad. I have always looked forward to baby blessings, and on this day I did so even more. Because I want you to remember this experience I will write just a few of the details:

Your grandmas love you so much that they spent most of the week before helping us put together the inside of our home and fix up the outside so we could have a little gathering at our house on Sunday. They even stopped by on Sunday morning to help with the last minute chores.

Early in the morning I took you in my arms and explained to you the importance of the day. I told you how much your father and I love you. I wanted you to know also that your grandpas love you even though they wouldn't be with us, but I couldn't get out the words. I just cried and held you. Your sweet dad appeared (almost out of nowhere) and with tears in his eyes gave us a hug. He felt impressed to remind us that though your grandpas may not be physically present, their strong presence could be felt. Honey, I want you to know that I felt them.

Aunt Margayle & Uncle Cardon came over and brought the kids to play with you while Mom and Dad got ready for church. Kamee just adores you and wants to do EVERYTHING for you- hold you, feed you, make your bottles and dress you. You are blessed with wonderful cousins.

Grandma Parker gave you the beautiful dress you wore.

You had lots of family and friends come to see you. They loved on you from the minute they saw you.

You were able to take 4th generation pictures with your Grandma Parker (mom's grandma) and Grandma Johnson (dad's grandma).

Standing in when you were blessed were your Dad (of course:), Grandpa Bunn, Uncles Cardon, Spencer, Josh, Zach, Brian, and Rob, Cousins Ben and Bruce and friends Jason and Bro. Walkow.

Your blessing was so special. I have written in another place the special things that your Heavenly Father wants you to know and will give it to you at a later date. Until then, know that you are loved, absolutely loved.

Love,
Mom

Ballgames and Birthdays

Whitney scored some FREE tickets to a Diamondbacks game on his birthday, so we decided to make the event a family outing. At 4 weeks old, we bought Kambrya her first D-backs onsie and took her to her first game!

and it's a good thing her ticket was FREE because she slept through the whole game. Our neighbors kept telling us how amazed they were that she slept so well, even with all of the noise. This special ability must have been inherited from me and ought to come in handy when little siblings enter the picture!

Happy Birthday Whitney! We hope your enjoyed spending your day with two of your biggest fans!

The new mommy do

I decided it was time for a new mommy friendly hair style. Something light, fun, and easy to style or throw up in a hair tie (when necessary). Thanks to Hil...this is what I got and I love it!

I love my daddy because...

1. He lets me sleep next to him in bed...despite mommy's protests:)
I think mommy just says that I need to sleep in my own bed because it's the "mommy thing to do", but really she thinks its
cute that I love sleeping with my dad!
2. I am just like my dad. Mommy always wondered why I always slept with my mouth open, and then she saw this.

3. When mommy asks dad to get me dressed, he usually searches through all my clothes to find an outfit that says something like "daddy loves me" or "daddy's princess". Then, like a proud dad, he shows me off and makes sure that everyone reads my clothes!

Don't be fooled by this pic. Daddy really does make me smile...when I'm not asleep!

4. He is silly and wants me to be just like him.

but most of all, I love my daddy because...
5. HE'S IN LOVE! He just can resist me! He always gives me big hugs and kisses my face and hands and feet. Mommy and I have a contest about who will get the first kiss when dad walks in the door from work. Mommy usually employs some kind of persuasive measure to try and win (like sweet talking), but all I do is look at him and I WIN! But not to be left out, he always gives her the second kiss :)

I love you daddy!!
