Annual Tolleson Parade

It's that time of year again! You know the routine... Sign up for the parade months in advance, talk about how to decorate your golf carts for the next two months, wait until the day of the parade to do something and then stress about it an hour before the parade starts and your golf cart is not done!

But somehow, everything turns out just fine!

All that hard work requires a good meal...cornbread an chili. It doesn't get much better than that on a chilly winter evening!

The Polar Express

As if there aren't enough things to keep you busy during the holiday season, we decided to throw in a quick trip to the North Pole to meet Santa!

You would think grandma had to wait for the train outside in single digit temperatures with a wind chill factor of...WAY TOO COLD!

Hana...I know they said that the louder you sing the faster Santa will come, but I think in your case he came quickly because he just couldn't take it anymore!! (Notice the matching pjs? That was Hana's idea... 7 adult women in footie pajamas...not flattering!)

Fun with Uncle Wintey

More random happenings...

My family just loves it when I volunteer them all to help with the fun projects that I am in charge of. Knight sponsored a team at the 2009 diabetes walk (a cause that is dear to me) so I took it upon myself to sign everybody up to participate! A big thanks to everyone else who participated willingly! We raised over $4000 for the cause!

Only my family would cheat on a charity walk and try to find a shortcut. But did it pay off? Of course not, cheaters never prosper! At least they found their way back to the finish line. Way to go ladies!

Mom's annual work party came andwent again this year. We always have lots of fun. This year I got to sit on the sidelines and watch, but it is all for good reason!

I must say that cute things happen in the morning at mom's house. Several times I woke up to the following "kodak moments". These sure are lucky kids!

A campout in the back yard with the favorite "uncle wintey". Note: Cardon couldn't stand that they had a campout without him, so the following night the kids got to camp out AGAIN with uncle wintey and their dad. Lucky ones I tell ya!

Well, I already announced what my Halloween costume was, but I think Whitney's costume was awesome! This year Jayce wanted to dress up as Darth Vader and have a light saber, so uncle wintey decided to secretly dress up as his arch enemy. Thanks to Savers, a "cool dude" wig, and some ace bandages Luke Skywalker made his appearance and completely caught Darth off guard!

Random happenings

I will try to spare you my laundry list of excuses as to why I haven't blogged lately, but I will try to make up for it in the next few posts and highlight the last 6 months...

After a somewhat challenging summer, I decided to continue teaching seminary this year because...

1. I absolutely love teaching!

2. I love my students!

3. I love the Book of Mormon!

I could do with out the 6 am class time, but it is worth it to be able to teach the BOM. I felt like I had worked 3 years for this! I couldn't wait to build tents and camp in the "wilderness", literally participate in Lehi's dream, transcribe King Benjamin's "conference address", teach King Noah and the wicked priests with Abinadi...and the list goes on. This was going to be AWESOME! and it started out that way...

We headed for the promised land, traveled in the "wilderness" and camped in tents.

We successfully obtained the brass plates to take with us on our journey! (pictured is our first failed attempt)


We, like Lehi, saw and partook of the fruit that is most desirable....



and then, Sister Bunn found out she was PREGNANT!



and unfortunately my students found out what pregnancy does to Sister Bunn...
lethargic (always tired)
morning sickness (not good for a morning seminary class:)
irritable
swollen limbs
"airheadedness" (others would say I lost half my brain:)

Gone were the days of prepared and interactive lessons, cest la vie to the home cooked treats, good-bye to the fun and enthusiastic Sister Bunn (if you could ever say that) and HELLO to the moody grouch!

As if that HAPPY:) news wasn't enough, we FINALLY signed papers on our first home only two weeks later!

Just a few details:

The house is small (1400 SF) on almost an acre lot in Tolleson, AZ. We have big plans for the place, but here is what we found:

A new home obviously means lots of cleaning, packing, and moving which we have done lots of....it's just too bad we haven't yet moved into this home! I'll save the details for a future post, but here is a preview as to why!
